Sunday Indian temple

Today we had a religious day going to three different churches. We started at the Hindu temple. Most of the people are Hindu in India with the second religion Muslim and then Christain and then Buddhist. Most of the Christains are in Southern India where we are.

At the Hindu temple, there are lots of people pestering you to buy things outside the temple. We take off our shoes and put them, for a few coins, in a little house with shoes. I am wearing my Indian custom sandals  which fit like a glove.   After taking off our shoes we notice people touching a six pointed star in chalk on their way in. The walled  compound has many temples with gods in little shrines. We could not go up to the shrines because we are not Hindu. I was told by Natalie the college student facilitator that if you are not born Hindu, you cannot convert. We walked around seeing lots of exquisitely dressed women in their sarees. Then we came across a man having some sort of ceremony and then in another part was a wedding with the wedding gifts. Around the corner was a place for the holy cows. Camille got licked by a cow and then played with a cat. It was all great!!
